    Perhaps in foresight it would have been wise to start the procedures for the russian papers when you started, that way, at least in crossing the US/Canadian borders there might be more beneficial news by that time.Anyhow, how about getting a dual national status?(if they allow it)Its obviously solely because Karl is an ex soldier
    which causes another problem for the Ruskies.Keep your spirits up and good luck for this portion of your trek!

    I,m a soldier as part of 2 Scots on a tour in Kabul, Afghanistan… I found the book Giant Steps hidden away on a book shelf, haven,t put in down yet. Just want to say good luck Karl and stick in.

    Hi, Karl,
    I am Russian, settled in the UK, but have lots of useful contacts in Russia. I am considering crossing Bering Strait on ice. Should you need any help with Russian authorities, I might be able to help.
