Karl Bushby and Team
Karl Bushby was born in 1969 in Hull, East Yorkshire, United Kingdom. He attended a local comprehensive school and joined the British Army at the age of 16. Karl served with the 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment for 11 years. He decided to leave the British Army in 1998 to follow his dream and walk round the world.
Karl had been planning the Goliath expedition for some years. With his military training and experience he was in an ideal position to undertake such a challenging and committed test of human endurance and strength.
Karl had hoped for a number of sponsors to back him on the marathon journey but unfortunately only a few sponsors were forthcoming. Paying his own way to South America Karl decided to go anyway and fund his journey on route.
‘Goliath’ The Expedition was born.
KARL’S TEAM
Backing Karl all the way are the UK-based support team, seen here in the photo, Keith Bushby (Karl’s father) and Andy Cooper. Both have full-time jobs and the expedition work is carried out in their spare time. Their role is basically to take care of the expedition’s administration while keeping Karl upright and moving forward. This includes working with current sponsors, seeking potential new ones and liaising with the media. Also, all correspondence is dealt with by Keith and Andy.
