The Goliath Expedition

12 years, 36,000 miles, 4 continents, 25 countries, crossing a frozen sea, 6 deserts, 7 mountain ranges

Well, here we go then….. fingers crossed!

Karl and Dimitri have now finally finished all the small tasks that were required with equipment etc and are basically good to go. They plan to leave at 08:00 on Friday 17th March. By that time a BBC film crew will be in Wales and are planning to do some of their filming from the air using a helicopter. This could be of great use to Karl and Dimitri as it will give them contact with an aerial platform that will have a good view of the ice situation in the Straits.

    I don’t get it!

Can’t you just put on Ice skates and skate across?

It’ll be a lot quicker plus you get points for “Artistic Merit”

I’ve been following the trip since Peru.

    Good luck.

Good Luck Karl! I had first heard of your journey a year and a half ago, and have been following your journey ever since.

As a child I would trace a globe wondering if someone could actually walk across the continents. Now I am finding out!

I imagine your anguish of having to turn back last year (though for understable reasons), but the progress you have made is amazing.

Be safe as possible during this test of your journey. I will keep my fingers crossed for you until you are in Russia.

I wish you all the very best on your fantastic journey. You are achieving feats that lots of us sit in our armchairs dreaming about. It has to be one of the last big goals for any young man to attempt on our beautiful planet. I can only imagine how good you adventures will look in print. I hope I,m still around to enjoy reading it. The noble city of Kingston Upon Hull needs a hero to show the country that we have people like you that we can be truly proud of. Safe onward journey and fair winds be with you. Brian Bird
